Just beyond Punta Banco, the Rancho Burica, beckons you with its lush and heavenly setting at the end of the road in Costa Rica.  If it’s seclusion, sand and sea that you want, this beachside jungle outpost is for you.

Our ambient hide-away is nestled between the high trail-ridden ridges of the rainforest and the beckoning waves of the Pacific Ocean.  A year-round waterfall and stream are literally only a few steps away from the private individual cabins.  Wide lawns are lavishly landscaped with pineapple plants, tropical flowers, tall palms and other attractive foliage. The separate cabins are of various styles and sizes:  one being a large Rancho (round bunkhouse with a tipi roof) and several others being one or two-story wooden structures with 1 double and/or 1 single bed with a total of 7 rooms in 5 cabins – the Rancho being the closest to the beach.  All have lights, fans and electrical outlets (public electricity finally made it out here).   Some units have decks with ocean views.  In addition, there is an observation deck placidly located about a five minute walk up the rough steps on the forest ridge facing the ocean.  The sunset views from this spot are exquisite!

Among the 21 surfing Dutch friends, who’ve owned the Rancho for over 10 years now, at least one will typically be on-site either in the capacity of manager or vacationing (mostly – but not always.).  The Spanish, English, and Dutch languages are all understood by the management; and, depending on who’s managing, a little French and German as well.
Typical Tico (colloquial term for a native Costa Rican) breakfasts and dinners are available by our exclusive cook(s) in the ‘guest-only’ communal dining area.  The cost per meal is quite low especially compared to how incredibly delicious the food is, the quantity of it you can enjoy, and the unusually superb pleasure of multi-cultural dining companions.
Rancho Burica’s tropical seclusion is located about 8 kilometers (approx. 5 miles) south of Pavones – home to one of the world’s longest left-breaking waves!!!  However, and most importantly, the Rancho’s surf is most splendid and not to be missed!
Enjoy!
